Fall Gathering

At the home of Chris and Heather Buettner, 4134 Manitou Way.

Saturday, November 21, 2009, 6–8 pm

Each fall, a friendly neighbor opens their home for a cozy cocktail party. Other neighbors bring hors d’oeuvres to complement to the bar. This event is a time to get together and usher in the holiday season.

2008 Fall Gathering

As Indian summer finally turned toward Old Man Winter, neighbors gathered for warmth, cocktails, and great conversation at the Annual Fall Gathering on Saturday, November 8, 2008. Our gracious hosts, Brenda & Jon Furlow, opened their lovely home at 717 Oneida Place to approximately 85 neighbors, including six new Nakomans. The night would not have been complete without our fabulous bartenders (Forbes McIntosh, Ted Osthelder, Doug Nelson, Greg Hostetler, and Dean Yeazel), delicious hors d’oeuvres (too many neighbors to individually name you all), and earnest conversation (Most talked about? The election!).

A special thanks to all the neighbors who helped clean up following the event, including: Katie Arnesen, Scott Timme, Rick & Heidi Vierstra, David & Ann Somers, Gretchen & Eric Girard, and Taylor Key. And, of course, a great big Nakoma thank you to our hosts, The Furlows, and to the great ladies of the Nakoma League who planned the event, Angela James & Audra McGuire, as well as their spouses, Forbes McIntosh & Doug Nelson, who enthusiastically jumped in to help. Next up, Nakoma? TheTwelfth Night Dinner and Theatre on February 7, 2009—when we need all the warmth we can get.
